Letter From The President
The Jennifer Lynn Thompson Memorial Foundation (aka 'Warriors in Grey') was established in 2014 in memory of my daughter Jennifer.
Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) on November 20, 2013. Jennifer understood that her tumor was both complex and highly aggressive and only offered a grave prognosis with a very limited life expectancy. After consulting with her neurosurgeon Dr. Waziri, Co-Medical Director of Inova’s Neuro-Oncology Program, Jennifer also came to realize that GBM and Brain Cancer research are one of the deadliest and most underfunded cancers affecting thousands of Americans and their families each day. Jennifer fought her battle until May 14, 2014.
For those of you that knew Jennifer and for those who will learn to know her more through her foundation, Jennifer’s greatest God-given gift was total selfless giving and compassion. Just before her passing, she asked:
'Mom, following my death can you please establish a foundation to help fund GBM and brain cancer research and create world-wide awareness of this devastating tumor? If it could save just one person I would feel like this wasn't in vain… if we can help save more that would be amazing!!'
Warriors in Grey is my husband Mike’s and my response and the direct result of Jennifer’s selfless request.
Jennifer requested that her foundation’s research funding be directed to the research of Dr. Allen Waziri, Co-Medical Director of Inova Neuro-Oncology and the Inova Hospital Systems. Inova is a non-profit healthcare system whose focus is on health, education and research for patients in need. As the Foundation grows, additional GBM and brain cancer research programs will be identified and funded to defeat GBM.
Please help us find a cure to help the more than 700,000 brain tumor patients who are currently living in fear and anxiety with the diagnosis of GBM tumors and other brain cancers. Your support makes a difference.
The Jennifer Lynn Thompson Memorial Foundation is a 501c(3) Non-Profit Organization with 100% of donations directed to our daughter’s request to find a cure.
